Vitality Blast T20: Qualifying teams

The Vitality Blast T20 featured some unpredictable performances and strong legacy players. Let us look at some key moments from the knockout stages.

On Tue 3 Sep 2024, Surrey beat Durham by five wickets in the T20 Blast quarter-final.

Players Sam Curran and Dom Sibley hit crucial half-centuries surpassing Durham’s 162 runs with 12 balls remaining. Surrey became the first team to reach the Finals.

Previously, Somerset secured their place in the finals with a hard-fought 17-run victory over Northamptonshire.

Tom Banton played an incredible innings with 75 stunning runs on 43 balls. Tom Kohler-Cadmore contributed to it. Somerset now flaunts an impressive score of 215-3.

Northamptonshire, led by David Willey’s 57, started with a cheer but fell short, finishing at 198-5.

Sussex perforated the finals by defeating Lancashire by eight wickets.

Tymal Mills was delighted at the win but deemed the Vitality schedule “pretty stupid” as Jofra Archer would be unavailable at the finals due to avoidable schedule clashes.

Even though Sussex agreeably won well, Lancashire’s Richard Gleeson outshone as the best bowler of the Vitality Blast T20 season. The player took 9 wickets in six North group games.

Sussex bowlers Ollie Robinson and Jofra Archer took Lancashire out for just 114 runs. Sussex simply chased the target, wrapping up the game with 35 balls to spare.
