A Tale of Love, Forgiveness, and Forever: Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma’s Dream Wedding
Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his long-time love, choreographer and YouTuber Dhanashree Verma got married in an intimate wedding ceremony.
Yuzu is India’s brilliant right-arm leg-spinner known for his match-winning performances.
Dhanashree is a Mumbai-based choreographer, dentist, and YouTuber, who has captivated audiences with her dancing skills and creativity through her brand, Dhanashree Verma Company.
Dhanashree appeared in the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa season 11 and even became a finalist.
These two talented individuals tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony.
The event took place at the picturesque Karma Lakelands in Gurugram on 22 December 2020.
Yuzvendra Chahal aka Yuzi took to social media to announce his lifelong partnership with Dhanashree.
He wrote:
“We started at ‘Once Upon A Time’ and found ‘Our Happily Ever After’ because’ Finally DhanaSaidYuz for infinity and beyond!”
Yuzvendra and Dhanashree were clad in coordinated clothes designed by the renowned Tarun Tahiliani.
The couple looked extremely adorable.
Yuzi and Dhanashree: Divorce rumours
In 2022, social media started buzzing with speculations surrounding an alleged divorce between Dhanashree and Yuzvendra Chahal.
These rumours took birth when Dhanashree decided to remove ‘Chahal’ from her name on her official Instagram profile.
This move sparked widespread discussion among fans about a possible split between the two.
Adding to the rumours, Chahal posted an Instagram story, talking about the start of a “new life”. This further fueled the headlines.
After fans flooded the internet with false news, speculations and personal opinions on Yuzi and Dhanashree, Yuzi finally took to Instagram to put an end to this crazy display of gossip-mongering.
He assured his fans with a story that said
“A humble request to you all to not believe in any sort of rumours pertaining to our relationship. Kindly, put an end to it. Love and light to everyone.”

However, the debate did not die down here. The trolls resurfaced when Dhanashree was seen in a cosy picture with a choreographer friend on Instagram.
The picture was from a house party hosted by Director and reality show judge Farah Khan after the finale episode of Jhalak Dikhla Jaa season 11.
The picture raised eyebrows and instantly went viral sparking a huge controversy on social media. The internet was brimming with demeaning memes and comments.
Who is Pratik Utekar?
Pratik Utekar is a choreographer and Dhanashree’s close friend. He is often seen posing closely with Bollywood stars and Television celebrities.
He is known to choreograph major Bollywood stars like Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Nora Fatehi, among others.
Pratik shared a picture on his Instagram where he is closely holding Dhanashree with a back hug.
Many fans and trolls alike felt that Yuzvendra Chahal should separate from his wife or that Dhanashree is definitely going to divorce him because of his lack of conventional good looks.
Dhanashree seemed to be unaffected by the trolls initially as she went on to share more Instagram stories that featured Pratik.
Twitter and Instagram were filled with raging debates on what limits should be there in relationships when it comes to having physical contact with members of the opposite sex.
Chahal’s fans urged him to divorce Dhanashree, labelling her as a ‘red flag‘.
After this, Dhananshree Verma became the most trolled cricketer’s wife ever in India.
These trolls raised questions about Dhanashree’s character and called her a gold-digger for marrying Chahal.
Following their marriage, Dhanashree was also linked with another Indian cricket player and Yuzi’s teammate Shreyas Iyer.
Rumours about an extramarital affair were surfacing on the internet as the two were seen attending the same events.
Dhanashree was also slut-shamed by anonymous trolls who were “feeling bad for Yuzi bhai”.
One user reflected on the controversy and posted on Twitter saying ”What will be Dhanashree Verma’s reaction if Yuzvendra Chahal does this constantly with his ladies friends?
We all are human and any husband who loves his wife will be hurt by these incidents. This is utter nonsense, and needs to be stopped!”
The history of misogyny and sexism against wives of Indian cricketers is an ever-increasing phenomenon.
Following these incidents, Dhanashree became the most trolled cricketer’s wife in India.
After this extreme backlash, she revealed that she and her family were heavily affected by the excessive trolling and character assassination.
This intense hatred led her to take a detox break from social media platforms.
“Social media is a major part of my work and I can’t give up, which is why I have gathered courage and come back on Instagram”, she said.
She urged social media users to be sensitive and abstain from spreading hate.
Yuzi and Dhanashree Still Happily Married
Even in the face of such extreme trolling and online hate, Yuzi and Dhanashree managed to maintain the love and respect in their relationship.
The couple is still happily married and has spent four happy years together.
Yuzi makes it a habit to openly shower his wife with positive affirmations and words of endearment on social media.
The couple is now rumoured to have embarked on a journey of parenthood. However, no official statements have yet been issued.
